Eagles Sign LeSean McCoy to 5 Year $45 Million Extension
The Eagles have agreed to a new 5 year extension with RB LeSean McCoy that will pay him $45 million with almost $21 mil guaranteed. This assures that McCoy will be an Eagle through the 2017 season.
There has been much speculation that LeSean might have held out of training camp until he received his well deserved contract extension, but now that LeSean is locked up long term, the Eagles can now just focus on perfecting the on field product.
No one could blame McCoy for potentially holding out after earning his first trip to the Pro-Bowl and nearly walking away with the NFL rushing title. The fact the McCoy compiled so many yards while playing on a predominantly passing team is truly astounding.
Here is what Andy Reid had to say about the contract extension:
“We are excited to continue this offseason of taking care of our own players. LeSean is one of the most electrifying running backs in the National Football League. He can do it all – run, catch, block and score touchdowns from anywhere on the field. He’s worked extremely hard to turn himself into a Pro Bowl running back and he is well deserving of this contract extension. I give a lot of credit to (Eagles G.M.) Howie Roseman and Drew Rosenhaus for hammering out this deal.”
LeSean has become one of the best running backs in the NFL and keeping him in Philly and keeping him happy about his situation is the best thing the Eagles could do. LeSean is only 23 years old and has a bright future in the NFL. He is already an elite running back, there’s no telling how great he can be.
In celebration of LeSean’s new deal. Let’s take a look back at LeSean’s 2011 Highlights.
